I have the touch...

...of death.

Well, time to rewrite this post. Blogger decided to not post it.

Last week we moved into new cubicles at work. It's kind of nice to get a new perspective every once in a while, but it is a bit small for my 2 monitor workstyle. You'll notice that my keyboard hangs off the desk just a little bit. However, there IS more space for stuff, and there's a set of drawers and more bits of desk coming, so it's not absolutly horrible.

Shortly after moving into my new more cramped cubicle, I noticed a very strange problem with my display. Certain activities, like scrolling a window, would cause the display to turn on and off in rapid succession. We assumed that the card got unseated during it's short move up the stairs so I popped open the case. And what do I find but one of the capacitors had gone all popcorn on me and several others looked like they were a bit too toasty. So the powers that be decided to get me a new video card today. Shortly after installing it and it's associated drivers, I began to have much more severe problems. In the end, the system crashed and now refuses to boot, even with a different video card. Great. What a huge waste of time. Sigh.

I'll be glad when the weekend arrives. Looking forward to that auto show... :)

The First Dump

Well, this is my first entry on my first blog. We'll have to see how long this lasts. Who knows? :)

I'm not going to bother going too far back on about old stuff, and just keep this thing for new stuff.

It was a pretty cold day in Ottawa today, -27C before the windchill, So it was nice to see that OC Transpo was actually on time today and I didn't have to spend the better part of an hour freezing my butt off. Yay.

This weekend I'll be getting a ride to Toronto with some random people to visit some friends (James, Oak, Ernie and Dave). Hopefully the ride will be less cramped than the last one, but I guess one can't complain too loudly for $40 round trip. We'll be heading to the car show in Detroit for the day Saturday so I'm looking forward to the opportunity to take some pictures... And of course the standard visit to Smokeless Joe's.

Anyway, enough for now.

Cheers
